Jill Oetken

Event Coordinator, Director of Bands

Jill Oetken is a lifelong Lincolnite whose immense passion for all things music brought her to Lincoln High as an educator in 2010. After receiving her education at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, she joined the LHS music staff, where she teaches a variety of courses including Band, Guitar, Piano and Drumming. Jill is an active member of the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), the Nebraska Music Educators Association (NMEA), and the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association (NSBA). In the summers she frequently enjoys taking in workshops and working with her Drumming Instructor Sowah Mensah. When not teaching, Jill spends time with her family, namely her nephew and nieces, siblings, and parents. Additionally, she enjoys exploring the art of photography, finding beauty in the world around her. Jill boasts a long list of live concert attendances, noting Billy Joel and Chicago (the musical) as some of her favorites. If this doesn’t seem busy enough, Jill is also currently pursuing her Masters degree at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln to further her education in Music.

Tyler York

Event Technologist, Site Manager

Tyler York is a Senior Software Engineer at First National Bank of Omaha. A 2013 Lincoln High School graduate, he has continued to volunteer his technological and business knowledge to the LINKS Marching Contest and Lincoln High Music Program. Throughout his career, he has earned degrees from Southeast Community College and Bellevue University in Software Development. Tyler lives in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife, Kylie; his dog, Toffee; and his three cats, Butterscotch, Rosie and Precious. A true hobbyist, he enjoys wood-working, baking ,and spending time outdoors during his free time. Tyler has experience in many different areas of technology, including data analysis, process testing, and implementation and software development. He also engages in many Nebraska Innovation groups, expanding the network of start-up companies in the state. Tyler deeply enjoys his time working with he LINKS Marching Contest team and looks forward to providing a fun and educational contest each year.
